Before earning the title “King of Bollywood,” Shahrukh Khan made a rather humble start in the world of cinema. While most fans associate his debut with Hindi films, Shahrukh began his acting journey in an English film—a fact that surprises many today. His appearance in the film was so different that it is hard to recognize him now as the Bollywood superstar we know.

A Unique Role in His First Film

The actor, who is now known for his charming persona and versatile roles, was once unafraid to experiment. Shahrukh’s cinematic debut wasn’t with a Bollywood blockbuster but with an English film titled In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones. Released in 1989, the film showcases the story of an idealistic student, Anand Grover, who prefers thinking about solutions to India’s problems rather than focusing on his studies. Shahrukh played a small, yet significant role in this movie, marking his entry into the world of films.

A Star-Studded Cast and Acclaimed Film

Apart from Shahrukh, the film also starred other notable actors like Roshan Seth, Rituraj Singh, and Manoj Bajpayee, who would go on to become a four-time National Award winner. Directed by Pradeep Kishan and written by Arundhati Roy, the film earned critical acclaim, even winning two National Awards—one for the screenplay and another for the Best English Feature Film.

The Early Days of Shahrukh Khan

While In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones was his first film, Shahrukh’s acting journey began on television. His first notable appearance was in the TV serial Fauji in 1988, where he portrayed an army cadet. This was followed by roles in serials like Wagle Ki Duniya and Circus, which helped him gain attention in the Indian entertainment industry.

From Humble Beginnings to Global Stardom

Today, Shahrukh Khan’s name is synonymous with Bollywood, and he has become one of the most recognizable faces in global cinema. With numerous hit films under his belt and an empire that includes his production company Red Chillies Entertainment and the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, Shahrukh’s rise from small roles to superstardom is nothing short of inspiring.

Shahrukh Khan will next be seen in the much-anticipated film King, where he shares the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan. His journey from a struggling actor to the “Badshah of Bollywood” is truly remarkable.
