Popular singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, who enjoys immense popularity for his music and performances, has recently found himself in the middle of a legal controversy. Diljit, known for his chart-topping songs and acting skills, has a significant fan following both in India and abroad. As part of his upcoming ‘Dil-Luminati Tour’, Diljit will perform in 10 major cities across India, with his concert in Delhi being one of the most anticipated events. However, the excitement has taken a legal turn, as a fan has sent a legal notice to the singer, accusing him of fraud over ticket pricing for his Delhi concert.
Fan Claims Ticket Fraud for Delhi Concert
Diljit’s Delhi concert, scheduled for October 26 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, has already sold out, with fans rushing to buy tickets as soon as they were released. However, one fan, Riddhima Kapoor, a law student from Delhi, has accused the organizers of unethical practices in selling the tickets. Riddhima sent a legal notice to the singer, claiming there were irregularities with the ticket pricing and booking process.
Allegations of Manipulated Ticket Booking
In her legal notice, Riddhima alleged that despite the announcement that the tickets would go live at 1 pm on September 12, passes were made available a minute earlier, at 12:59 pm. This allegedly led to tickets being sold out within seconds, leaving hundreds of fans, including herself, without a chance to book them. She claimed she had made arrangements, including acquiring an HDFC credit card specifically to access early-bird passes, but despite the payment being processed, she did not receive her ticket, and the amount was later refunded.
“Black Marketing of Tickets” Claims Fan
Riddhima further alleged in her notice that the early sell-out of the tickets suggests possible black marketing and manipulation of prices. She stated that this is a violation of the Consumer Protection Act 2019, as it encourages ticket hoarding with the intent to resell them at higher prices. Such practices, she claimed, are unfair trade practices that violate consumer rights.
Other Parties Involved in the Notice
Apart from Diljit Dosanjh, Riddhima also sent the notice to Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Private Limited, as they were involved in organizing or promoting the concert. As of now, none of the parties involved have responded to the notice.
