Known for his performances in TV serials like Rangrasiya and Gunahon Ka Devta, Ashish Sharma is a familiar face in the entertainment industry. Despite his success on television, Ashish’s film career has had its share of challenges. In a recent interview, Ashish shared an experience where he lost a role in the 2010 film Action Replay, starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai, to Aditya Roy Kapur without being informed.
Ashish revealed how he was initially cast for a significant role in Action Replay. He was shortlisted for the role and even attended workshops, thinking he would be part of the big project. But suddenly, the calls from the production team stopped, and without any formal notice, his part was given to Aditya Roy Kapur. Ashish came to know about this change only after seeing the film’s promotional poster.
Shocking Replacement in Action Replay
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ashish recalled the incident, explaining how he had been selected for a role in Action Replay, a time-travel-based romantic comedy directed by Vipul Amritlal Shah. He was thrilled to be working alongside big stars like Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai, and after being chosen in the auditions, he was confident about his role.
“We did workshops for about 10-15 days, and everything was going well. But suddenly, the calls stopped coming. I kept waiting and wondering what had happened,” Ashish explained. “One day, I saw the promotional poster of Action Replay and realized that Aditya Roy Kapur had been cast in my place.”

Action Replay, released in 2010, featured stars like Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, and Aditya Roy Kapur, with supporting roles by Om Puri, Neha Dhupia, and Rajpal Yadav. The movie’s unique storyline revolved around time travel, blending science fiction with romantic comedy.
