In a recent interview, TV show writer Amit Aryan, best known for his work on the popular comedy series FIR, made some harsh statements about the current state of Indian television comedy. Aryan specifically targeted The Kapil Sharma Show, calling it the “worst show in the history of Indian comedy” and accusing it of promoting indecent humor that disrespects women.
Kapil Sharma’s Show Slammed by FIR Writer
Amit Aryan expressed his strong disapproval of Kapil Sharma’s show during an interview with Digital Commentary. He criticized the show for its portrayal of men dressing as women, particularly mentioning characters like Sapna, played by comedian Krushna Abhishek. According to Aryan, the show is disrespectful to women, portraying them in a way that undermines their dignity.
“There is no show worse than Kapil Sharma’s show. The way men are turned into women, and the jokes made about them, is a disgrace to the name of women,” Aryan remarked. He further emphasized that women should be respected as mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and friends, rather than being the subject of offensive jokes on national television.
Difference Between Laughter and Healthy Comedy
Aryan also pointed out that while making people laugh is important, there is a significant difference between genuine comedy and what he considers unhealthy humor. Referring to specific characters on The Kapil Sharma Show, such as Sapna, he said the jokes often cross the line into obscenity. “You may laugh at these jokes, but that doesn’t make it healthy comedy,” he added.
Harsh Words for Kapil’s Netflix Show
Taking his criticism a step further, Amit Aryan claimed that even Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, failed to make an impact. He sarcastically remarked, “There was a Kapil Sharma show on Netflix, and not even a dog watched it.” Aryan suggested that the show’s success is largely due to the supporting cast, including actors like Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, and Sunil Grover, rather than Kapil Sharma himself.
“Spreading Filth on TV”
Aryan concluded his critique by accusing the show of bringing “dirt” into people’s homes. He described the jokes and performances as “spreading filth” and said that Kapil Sharma alone would not be able to carry the show if it weren’t for his co-stars. This statement has sparked debate, as The Kapil Sharma Show remains one of the most-watched comedy shows in India.
While the show continues to have a loyal fan base, Aryan’s scathing remarks have raised questions about the content and quality of comedy on Indian television today. Whether this criticism will spark a change in how comedy is approached on such platforms remains to be seen.
