Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest project, Love and War, has been creating quite a buzz ever since it was announced. Starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, this highly anticipated film is set to bring together some of the biggest names in the industry. While both Alia and Ranbir have worked with Bhansali before, this will be Vicky Kaushal’s first collaboration with the renowned director.
Recently, rumors started circulating that Love and War would be a remake of Raj Kapoor’s 1964 film Sangam, which starred Rajendra Kumar and Vyjayantimala. Bhansali, however, has now put these rumors to rest. In a recent interview, the filmmaker clarified that his upcoming film is not a remake of the Bollywood classic. “When you shouldn’t remake Sholay or Mother India, why should I remake Sangam?” he said, stressing that Love and War is an original project with its own identity.
A New Direction for Bhansali’s Style
Bhansali is known for his grand, opulent sets and elaborate costumes in films like Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani. However, he revealed that Love and War will take a completely different approach. This time, the film will feature a contemporary look with simpler sets and lighter costumes. Bhansali described the project as “a new space for me” and expressed his excitement about exploring this fresh direction.
The director also mentioned that the music for Love and War will be different from his previous works, aligning with the film’s modern tone. Despite these changes, Bhansali emphasized that the film would still be a challenging one to make, and he promised to give it his all, along with the talented cast he is working with.
Ranbir Kapoor, who made his Bollywood debut with Bhansali’s Saawariya, will be working with the director after many years. Alia Bhatt, who previously starred in Gangubai Kathiawadi, will join him once again for this project.
