Neetu Kapoor, a beloved face in Bollywood, took a long break from the film industry after her marriage to Rishi Kapoor. Having stayed away from the limelight for decades, her life took a painful turn when she lost her husband, legendary actor Rishi Kapoor, in 2020. Struggling with the grief, Neetu feared stepping back into Bollywood. However, with support from her children and fans, she returned to the silver screen with great courage. Here’s a look into her inspiring journey of making a comeback.
The Fear of Facing the Camera Again
Neetu Kapoor wasn’t ready to return to acting right after Rishi Kapoor’s death. She revealed that she was hesitant to face the camera again due to the fear of being trolled. Having stayed away from films for almost four decades, Neetu wasn’t sure if the audience would accept her again.
During an interview, Neetu shared her apprehensions, saying, “I was scared to make a comeback. I thought people would troll me, and I wasn’t confident enough to handle that.”
Support from Family
Neetu Kapoor credits her children, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, for giving her the strength to step back into the world of acting. After Rishi Kapoor’s death, Neetu felt alone and found it hard to cope. It was her children who motivated her to find solace in work.
“My children encouraged me to work again. Ranbir and Riddhima pushed me to return to films. They knew I needed something to keep myself occupied. They supported me throughout,” Neetu revealed in an interview.
Overcoming the Fear of Trolling
Despite the fear of backlash from trolls, Neetu slowly gathered the courage to make her return. Her first step was a small one—participating in a reality show and appearing in advertisements. She admitted that initially, she would feel nervous in front of the camera, but over time, she found her footing again.
Neetu said, “The first few times I faced the camera, I was trembling. It wasn’t easy, but once I got used to it, I felt alive again. Now I realize that sitting at home wouldn’t have helped me heal.”
Neetu’s Bollywood Comeback Projects
Neetu Kapoor’s first major comeback was in 2022 with the film Jug Jug Jeeyo, where she played a pivotal role. Her performance was well-received by the audience, marking a successful return after nearly a decade. Before this, she had last acted in the film Besharam in 2013, alongside her son Ranbir and late husband Rishi Kapoor.
Looking ahead, Neetu Kapoor is set to appear in Letters to Mr. Khanna, adding yet another exciting project to her journey of reinvention in Bollywood.
Neetu Kapoor’s comeback is not just a return to acting but a testament to her resilience and strength during a tough time in her life.
