A heartbreaking incident occurred on the sets of the popular TV show Anupama, leaving the entire cast and crew in shock. On Thursday, 14th November, an assistant lightman suffered a fatal electric shock while working on the set. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the crew member could not survive the injuries and tragically passed away during treatment.
Details of the Incident
The accident unfolded due to an alleged short circuit on the set. According to reports, the assistant lightman came into contact with a live wire, which caused the electric shock. BN Tiwari, president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, stated that the victim was relatively new to the job and possibly unfamiliar with safety protocols. He remarked, “He touched a wire, and sadly, it cost him his life.”
Police Investigation Underway
Although the production team of Anupama has yet to release an official statement, a police report has been filed at the RA Colony police station in Mumbai. Authorities visited the set on Friday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Further details about the incident are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
FWICE to Seek Compensation for the Family
BN Tiwari assured that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees will investigate the incident further. He expressed the organization’s commitment to securing appropriate compensation for the family of the deceased, acknowledging the significant loss they have suffered.
Impact on ‘Anupama’ Team and Viewers
The tragic event has deeply impacted the Anupama team. The show, which has long been a favorite among viewers, is already facing challenges, including a dip in TRP ratings. This week, Anupama slipped to the second position, overtaken by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Many fans believe that recent storyline changes, including the removal of Anuj Kapadia’s character, have contributed to the drop in audience engagement.
Safety Concerns on Sets
This unfortunate incident brings to light the pressing need for stringent safety measures on TV and film sets. Ensuring the well-being of crew members, especially new hires, is crucial to prevent such tragedies in the future.
