Fans Discover the Origin of Aparshakti Khurana’s Viral Lullaby Scene in “Stree 2”
The recently released film Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has taken the box office by storm, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2024. The horror-comedy sequel is packed with memorable dialogues and scenes that have quickly gone viral. One such scene features Aparshakti Khurana singing a lullaby to his girlfriend Bittu, with the lyrics “Soft Chitti Warm Chitti.” This catchy tune has captured the audience’s attention, but do you know where it actually originated?
The American Connection: “Soft Chitti Warm Chitti”
The lullaby sung by Aparshakti Khurana in Stree 2—”Soft Chitti Warm Chitti”—is not an original creation. It is, in fact, a children’s poem that first gained popularity in the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory. This iconic show, which aired from 2007 to 2019, featured 12 seasons and became a cultural phenomenon. Directed by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, the show starred Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik.
In The Big Bang Theory, the character Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, often sang this lullaby, titled “Soft Kitty,” to comfort himself when he was sick. The popularity of this scene turned the song into a fan favorite, and it seems Stree 2 has borrowed this tune to add a touch of humor and nostalgia.
Stree 2: Box Office Triumph
Stree 2 features a star-studded cast, including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee. The film has shattered records by earning double the amount of its predecessor in just six days, raking in ₹361 crores worldwide. The first installment of Stree, released in 2018, was set in the fictional village of Chanderi, where the terror of a witch known as “Stree” loomed large. In the sequel, the village is now haunted by a new entity called “Sarkata,” and the protagonists devise a plan to defeat it.
The Enigmatic Sarkata: Who Played the Character?
The character of Sarkata has generated a lot of buzz among audiences. The role is portrayed by Sunil Kumar, a 7-foot-6-inch tall resident of Jammu, who is often referred to as “The Great Khali of Jammu.” While Sunil Kumar’s imposing physique is used to represent Sarkata, the face of the character was created using CGI technology.
A Record-Breaking Success
Stree 2, which was released on August 15, 2024, faced stiff competition from several Hindi and South Indian films, including Veda and Double Smart. Despite this, Shraddha Kapoor’s film has managed to outshine the competition, earning crores of rupees daily. On its opening day, including previews, Stree 2 grossed ₹76.5 crores, followed by ₹41.5 crores on the second day.
The film has even surpassed the record set by Fighter, which was released on January 25, 2024. Fighter had held the title of the highest-grossing film of the year, earning ₹359 crores worldwide in 55 days. However, Stree 2 is poised to exceed the ₹300 crore mark in record time, further solidifying its place as a box office juggernaut.
