Bollywood actor Govinda was recently involved in a shocking accident when his revolver fired and injured him. The incident took place early in the morning at his residence in Mumbai, and the Mumbai Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the misfire.
Old Revolver Involved in the Accident
The revolver involved in the incident was a 20-year-old 0.32 bore firearm that had not been serviced for a long time. Sources say that Govinda had planned to replace the old revolver with a new one but unfortunately, the accident happened before he could do so. At the time of the incident, the revolver was loaded with six bullets, one of which misfired, causing the injury. The revolver’s lock was reportedly damaged, which could have contributed to the misfire.
How the Incident Happened
On the morning of the accident, Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata on a 5:45 am flight. At around 4:30 am, while he was getting ready, the actor was attempting to store his revolver in a suitcase. According to police reports, the revolver slipped from his hands and fell to the ground, leading to the accidental discharge. However, it is still unclear whether the gun fired as it hit the ground or while it was still in his hand.
Govinda’s police bodyguard, provided by the Mumbai Police Protection Branch, was present at the time of the incident. The bodyguard immediately rushed Govinda to the hospital, where he received medical treatment. Fortunately, the actor is now out of danger and is expected to be discharged from the hospital in a few days.
Police Investigation Ongoing
The Mumbai Police have taken possession of the revolver and are waiting for a ballistic report to determine the exact cause of the misfire. They have also confirmed that Govinda’s gun license is valid, and the revolver’s details match the records. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected after the ballistic report is reviewed.
Police sources revealed that Govinda’s revolver had not been serviced in a long time, which might have contributed to the malfunction. The investigation will focus on whether the revolver fired due to mechanical failure or an accidental trigger pull.
