Mumbai, August 2024: In a surprising turn of events, actor Vijay Raaz was recently removed from the upcoming film Son of Sardar 2, starring Ajay Devgn. The news has sparked controversy, with both sides sharing different versions of the story. According to a report, Vijay was replaced by actor Sanjay Mishra in the film, which is currently being shot in the UK. The film’s co-producer, Kumar Mangat Pathak, cited Vijay’s behavior and unreasonable demands as the reasons for his removal. However, Vijay Raaz has a different take on the situation.
Kumar Mangat Pathak’s Allegations
Kumar Mangat Pathak, co-producer of Son of Sardar 2, stated that Vijay Raaz was removed from the film due to his behavior on set. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Pathak shared that Vijay made unreasonable demands, such as asking for a bigger room and a premium vanity van. Additionally, Vijay reportedly requested more money for his spot boy, who was already being paid ₹20,000 per night, which Pathak claimed was more than what any big actor’s staff would typically receive.
Pathak explained that the film’s shooting is taking place in the UK, which is an expensive location. All actors were provided with high-quality rooms, each costing ₹45,000 per night, in one of the best hotels in the area. Despite this, Vijay allegedly demanded a premium suite. Pathak also alleged that Vijay refused to return the advance payment he had received for the film and behaved rudely towards the production team, insisting that they had approached him for the role, not the other way around.
Vijay Raaz’s Defense
In response to these allegations, Vijay Raaz provided his own version of events. He claimed that the real reason for his removal was not his demands or behavior, but rather the fact that he didn’t greet Ajay Devgn when he arrived on set. Vijay explained that when he reached the shooting location, he saw Ajay standing about 25 meters away. Since Ajay appeared to be busy, Vijay chose not to disturb him and instead continued chatting with his friends. According to Vijay, 25 minutes after this incident, Kumar Mangat Pathak approached him and informed him that he was being removed from the film.
Vijay expressed his disbelief at the decision, stating, “The only wrong behavior from my side was that I did not say hello to Ajay Devgn. I did not even meet the crew. I was removed from the film 30 minutes after reaching the set.” He further added, “These are powerful people, and they can do anything.” Vijay also revealed that he was informed about his removal on the afternoon of August 4.
Kumar Mangat Pathak’s Additional Remarks
Pathak, on the other hand, stood by his decision, emphasizing that the production team had gone out of their way to accommodate Vijay’s needs. He reiterated that the hotel rooms provided were already luxurious, and all other actors, including himself, were staying in similar accommodations. Pathak found Vijay’s demands for premium suites to be unreasonable and not in line with the budget of the production. He also criticized Vijay for refusing to cooperate with the team and for his refusal to return the advance payment.
