A fraud case has been registered against Bollywood choreographer Remo D’Souza and his wife Lizelle D’Souza at Mira Road police station in Thane, Maharashtra. The couple, along with five others, has been accused of embezzling Rs 11.96 crore from a dance troupe.
Complaint Filed by a 26-Year-Old Dancer
The case was lodged following a complaint from a 26-year-old dancer, alleging that Remo and the other accused misrepresented the dance troupe’s achievements. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the fraud took place over six years, from 2018 to 2024. The complainant claims that the troupe participated in a TV dance competition and won prize money, but the accused presented the group as their own and pocketed the prize amount.
Charges Under Cheating and Forgery
The FIR mentions that the case was filed under Section 420 (cheating) and Section 465 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code, along with other related charges. Apart from Remo and Lizelle, other individuals named in the FIR include Omprakash Shankar Chauhan, Rohit Jadhav, Vinod Raut, Ramesh Gupta, Frame Production Company, and even a police official. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details.

Remo D’Souza is a well-known choreographer, film director, and reality show judge. He has directed movies like ABCD, Race 3, and F.A.L.T.U. and has judged several popular dance shows, including Dance India Dance, Dance Plus, and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
Despite the legal trouble, Remo is currently preparing for the release of his new film ‘Be Happy,’ which will premiere on Prime Video. The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma, with appearances by Nora Fatehi and Johnny Lever.
