In a video that has gone viral on social media, Kangana jokingly called for the arrest of all paparazzi present during a promotional event on Wednesday. The actress reminded everyone of her film’s release date, adding, “Put all the paparazzi in jail, emergency is going to be imposed on 6 September. All means of entertainment are being banned on this day.”
Emergency: Not Indira Gandhi’s Biopic
Emergency, announced by Kangana in 2021, has been a highly anticipated political drama. Despite the film’s historical backdrop, Kangana clarified that it is not a biopic of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Alongside starring in the lead role, Kangana is also directing the film, showcasing her versatility in the industry.
Star-Studded Cast Includes Late Actor Satish Kaushik
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhary, and Shreyas Talpade. Shreyas Talpade will portray Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while Anupam Kher will take on the role of Jayaprakash Narayan. The late actor Satish Kaushik will be seen as Jagjivan Ram, India’s former Deputy Prime Minister.
Kangana’s Thoughts on Politics and Her Career
During the launch of the film’s trailer earlier this month, Kangana spoke about how joining politics could impact her acting career. She stated, “Whether I will continue acting, I think that is a question that I want people to decide. Like, I never said that I want to be a leader. It is people’s choice that I should contest elections. Now, tomorrow if Emergency works and if they want to see more of me, if I feel I can be successful, then I will continue.”
Kangana further added, “I am fine wherever I am needed or whatever is needed. If I feel I have more success in politics and I am needed more there, then we go where we feel needed, respected, and valued. I will let life make decisions for me. I have no such plans that I will go here or there.”
