Kareena Kapoor Khan, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, has completed 25 years in the film industry. Over the years, she has won millions of hearts with her powerful performances in films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Jab We Met, and Omkara. To celebrate this incredible milestone, PVR Cinema is organising a special film festival in her honour, showcasing some of her best work.
Kareena Becomes the First Actress to Have a Film Festival in Her Honour
Kareena Kapoor Khan is now part of an exclusive club. Prior to her, only legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar have had film festivals dedicated to them. This makes her the first actress to receive such an honour. The film festival will be held across more than 30 theatres in 15 cities, running from 20 to 27 September 2024.
Five Iconic Films to Be Screened in Theatres Across India
During the festival, PVR Inox will screen five of Kareena’s most iconic films, including Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Ashoka (2001), Omkara (2006), Jab We Met (2007), and Chameli (2004). Each of these films has been a significant milestone in her career, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
In a video shared on social media, Kareena expressed her excitement about the festival. “Blood in my veins, magic on screen… my work that I love… the fire inside me… for the next 25,” she wrote, thanking PVR and Inox for organising this special event. The video highlights her most beloved characters, from Poo in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to Geet in Jab We Met.
Kareena Kapoor’s Journey from ‘Refugee’ to Iconic Stardom
Kareena began her career with the 2000 film Refugee, which also marked the debut of Abhishek Bachchan. While the film did not perform well at the box office, it set the stage for Kareena’s rise in Bollywood. Over the years, she has worked in a variety of films, ranging from romantic comedies to intense dramas.
Some of her standout films include Chameli, where she played a bold role that earned her critical acclaim, and Jab We Met, where her portrayal of the lively Geet became a fan favourite. Other notable films in her career are Talaash, Aitraaz, Heroine, Singham Returns, and Jaane Jaan.
