Naresh Meena’s life took a dramatic turn in 2020 when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Reflecting on the moment, Naresh shared, “When I discovered I had a brain tumor, I questioned why this was happening to me. But my family stood by me through every step of the way.” Naresh lives with her parents and brother in Jodhpur, and it was their unwavering support that helped her navigate this difficult period.
A Tumor That Couldn’t Be Fully Removed
Naresh underwent a complex operation to remove the tumor, but the procedure was fraught with risks. “The doctors informed us that removing the entire tumor could be life-threatening,” she explained. “So, they decided to remove most of it and began proton therapy afterward. Even now, I undergo regular check-ups every two to three months to monitor the tumor’s size and growth.”
Society’s Harsh Taunts
Despite her health struggles, Naresh’s family faced harsh criticism from their community. “My parents were always supportive, but they had to endure taunts from our neighbors,” Naresh revealed. “People questioned why they continued to educate me, and after my diagnosis, instead of offering support, they ridiculed my parents.” According to Naresh, the neighbors suggested that had she been married earlier, the responsibility of her treatment would have fallen on her in-laws, thus sparing her parents the financial burden. But her parents chose to ignore these hurtful remarks and continued to support her unconditionally.
A Journey to KBC 16
Despite the odds, Naresh’s determination brought her to the set of KBC Season 16. Her journey from battling a brain tumor to sitting in front of Amitabh Bachchan, ready to tackle the one crore rupee question, is nothing short of inspiring.
