In a historic first, the Maharashtra state government presented the 58th and 59th Maharashtra State Film Awards together, recognizing outstanding contributions to cinema. The event, held on Wednesday at the Dome SVP Stadium in Worli, was graced by state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and other notable dignitaries.
Lifetime Achievement Awards
Veteran actor Shivaji Satam, best known for his role as ACP Pradyuman in the popular TV show CID, was honored with the Chitrapati V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award. Legendary actress Asha Parekh received the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award for her remarkable contributions to Indian cinema. Both awards were accompanied by cash prizes and certificates.
Special Contribution Awards
Director and actor Dipal Lanjekar was presented with the Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award. Meanwhile, the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award was posthumously awarded to filmmaker N. Chandra.
Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2024
Celebrated singer Anuradha Paudwal was honored with the Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2024 for her significant impact on the music industry. In addition, actress Rohini Hattangadi and singer Sudesh Bhosle were recognized for their contributions to cinema and music.
