The shoot for Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film Maalik faced an unexpected disruption at Lucknow University when a crowd of students gathered at the filming location, demanding selfies with the actor. The situation quickly escalated into chaos, causing the shoot to halt for over an hour.
Crowd Gathers During Late-Night Shoot
On Wednesday night, Rajkummar Rao, along with co-stars Manushi Chillar and Saurabh Shukla, was filming at Subhash Hostel on the Lucknow University campus. What began as a routine shoot soon turned problematic when a large group of students gathered around the area. The students, excited to see Rajkummar Rao, began shouting and demanding selfies with him.
Despite efforts by the local security team to control the crowd and continue the shoot, the situation quickly spiraled out of control when the students refused to leave without meeting the actor.
Students Cause Disruption After Denied Selfies
When their requests for photos were denied, the students’ behavior took a dramatic turn. They began creating a ruckus, scattering food and tea that had been arranged for the film’s cast and crew. According to sources, the situation became quite tense as the students became increasingly aggressive in their demands.
“They were shouting loudly, insisting that Rajkummar Rao come out and take selfies with them,” said a source from the set. “Since the actor was shooting in their hostel, they believed he should meet them.”
Food Scattered, Shooting Stalled for Over an Hour
The students, frustrated by being kept at a distance from the set, created enough disruption to bring the shoot to a halt. The food prepared for the cast and crew was scattered across the area, leading to further chaos. The situation was described as embarrassing and unpleasant for everyone involved. With tensions rising, filming was stopped for more than an hour.
Rajkummar Rao Calms the Crowd, Recites Famous Dialogue
To restore peace, Rajkummar Rao eventually stepped out to meet the students. In an effort to calm them down, he addressed the crowd and appealed for peace. He even recited his famous dialogue “Vicky please” from Stree 2, much to the delight of the students.
Rajkummar requested the students to cooperate with the crew and allow them to complete their work. “We need your cooperation right now,” he told the crowd. “You people also keep calm; we will also do our work peacefully.”
University Officials Intervene
The situation had escalated to such an extent that some officials from the university had to step in to control the crowd. Their intervention, along with Rajkummar Rao’s appeal, eventually brought things back to normal, allowing the shooting to resume.
