Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh, who recently tied the knot with producer Jackky Bhagnani in a grand ceremony in Goa on 21st February 2024, celebrated her first Ganesh Chaturthi as a married couple. The couple, who were in a relationship for three years before their wedding, marked the occasion together, distributing sweets to the paparazzi. However, Rakul’s comments during the festivities sparked controversy online.
While speaking to the media, Rakul shared her excitement about celebrating the festival for the first time, saying, “This is the first Ganpati for me. I have never kept Ganpati before. Jackky’s mother made all the preparations, and I learned from her how to keep Ganpati.”
Netizens took issue with her choice of words, criticizing her for saying “kept” instead of “enthroned” when referring to Lord Ganesha. Some users felt her comment was disrespectful, with one user commenting, “Ganpati is not kept, he is enthroned.”
Additionally, some people didn’t appreciate Rakul referring to her mother-in-law as “Jackky’s mom” rather than calling her “Mom” or “Sasu Maa.” This led to further criticism, as users suggested that she could have shown more respect in her choice of words.
Despite the backlash, Rakul and Jackky continued to enjoy their Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, with their fans showing support amidst the online criticism.
