Bollywood choreographer Remo D’Souza and his wife Liesel have recently found themselves in the spotlight due to serious fraud allegations involving Rs 11.96 crore. A dance group from Maharashtra has accused them of fraud, leading to a case being filed at Mira Road Police Station, Mumbai, on October 19, 2024. In response, the couple held a press conference to clear their name, firmly rejecting these claims.
During the press conference, Remo D’Souza expressed his shock at the situation, stating, “I never thought I’d be addressing such allegations. Everything you’re hearing is one-sided. Neither Liesel nor I are involved in this fraud.” He added that their names have been dragged into this controversy without proper verification of facts.
False Accusations Against Remo and Liesel
Remo emphasized that the media has been quick to report the accusations without verifying the details. He said, “I am very sorry that our names were brought up without any fact-checking. The blame is being put on us, but the truth hasn’t been revealed. Along with Liesel and myself, there are seven others involved in this case, but no one has bothered to look into their roles or even mention their names.”
The allegations have clearly upset the choreographer, as he explained how this situation has unfolded unfairly, painting them in a negative light.
Dance Troupe “WeUnbeatable” Involved in the Case
Shedding light on the origin of the fraud accusations, Remo explained that the case is connected to a dance troupe named “WeUnbeatable,” which gained fame after appearing on his show Dance Plus Season 4. He shared that he has known the troupe since their participation in the show, where they gained popularity for their performances.
“These people came as contestants on my show, and from there they earned recognition,” he clarified. However, he stressed that he has no connection to the allegations of fraud being leveled against them and his name is being unfairly linked to the matter.
Social Media Post Clarification
Before holding the press conference, Remo had already addressed the issue through a post on Instagram. He reassured his followers that the news reports about him and his wife being involved in a fraud case were entirely false. “There is no truth to these rumors,” he wrote. “We want to make it clear that we have nothing to do with this case. People are spreading false information about us.”
He urged the public to refrain from believing in rumors and assured that both he and Liesel are cooperating with the authorities to get to the bottom of the situation.
Case Details Filed at Mira Road Police Station
The official complaint was lodged by the dance troupe at the Mira Road Police Station on Saturday, October 19, 2024. According to the police report, the case involves charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 465 (forgery) and 420 (cheating). The complainants allege that Remo D’Souza, Liesel, and several others committed fraud between 2018 and July 2024.
Despite the serious nature of these charges, Remo remains firm in his stance, claiming that he has been wrongfully accused and will fully cooperate with the legal proceedings to clear his name.
