Bollywood personality Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor and sister to actor Ranbir Kapoor, has landed in hot water after an interview clip went viral on social media. During a discussion with Galatta India, Riddhima made a comment about online trolls, which many people found offensive. The clip, now circulating widely on Reddit, shows Riddhima comparing trolls to domestic servants, igniting widespread criticism from the public.
Riddhima’s Controversial Comment on Trolls
In the interview, Riddhima shared her concerns about her daughter Samara being on social media, stating that she wants to keep her away from negative online influences. However, it was Riddhima’s comparison of trolls to house servants that didn’t sit well with the audience. She said, “Anyone sitting anywhere is writing these comments. It may be a domestic servant writing it, who knows?” This comment triggered outrage, as many people felt it displayed a classist attitude.
Public Reaction: Anger and Disappointment
Riddhima’s statement has drawn heavy backlash on social media, with people accusing her of looking down on house help and implying that trolls come from a lower class. One user voiced their frustration, saying, “She’s sidelining house helpers, as if they don’t have a right to use social media or express opinions.” Another added, “Very unnecessary and classist. Why can’t a servant run social media? Her thinking is the problem, not trolls.”
The comment has sparked a broader discussion about elitism and the class divide in India, with many criticizing Riddhima for her choice of words and mindset.
Riddhima’s Family Life and Parenting Approach
Despite the controversy, Riddhima had also shared her reasoning for wanting to keep her daughter, Samara Sahni, away from social media. She mentioned that she prefers Samara not to get affected by trolls or negative comments online. Riddhima said she has advised Samara not to take social media seriously if she chooses to be part of it.
Riddhima has been married to Delhi-based businessman Bharat Sahni since 2006, after a five-year relationship. The couple met during their studies in London and have a daughter, Samara, who was born in 2011.
