Actress Rimi Sen, known for her stint in Bigg Boss 9 and her roles in several Bollywood films, has filed a ₹50 crore lawsuit against a car company, accusing them of negligence and poor customer service. The lawsuit has been filed against Navneet Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, and Satish Motors, citing repeated issues with the car’s functionality and the company’s dismissive attitude toward her complaints.
Background of the Complaint
According to the legal notice, the problems began around August 25, 2022, when Rimi’s car collided with a pillar due to a malfunctioning rear-end camera. Despite multiple visits to the service center—about ten times according to Rimi—the issues with the car remained unresolved. The actress claims that the company’s negligence could have led to a fatal accident.
Rimi Sen has been away from the acting scene for several years, focusing on other pursuits. However, her ordeal with the car company has brought her back into the spotlight, albeit under distressing circumstances.
Details of the Legal Notice
In the notice, Rimi Sen has expressed her frustration with the car company, stating that despite her repeated attempts to have the car repaired, the issues persisted. She accuses the company of not only failing to address the mechanical problems but also treating her rudely when she sought assistance.
Due to the continuous mental harassment and potential risk to her safety, Rimi has demanded ₹50 crore in compensation. Additionally, she has requested ₹10 lakh to cover legal costs.
Rimi Sen’s Statement on the Issue
When contacted by ETimes, Rimi Sen voiced her disappointment with the car company’s services. She stated, “I was absolutely disappointed with the car company and its services. Their attitude towards their customers was the worst. I hit a pole, but the pole could have been a human being. And no amount of money or anything could have saved anyone’s life. Their negligence could have killed someone. It is alarming. I could have easily met with a fatal accident.”
Rimi emphasized that the compensation she is seeking is not just about the financial aspect but also about holding the company accountable for their negligence. “I have demanded ₹50 crore as compensation, and I fully deserve it for all the mental harassment I have suffered. I hope I get justice,” she added.
The Road Ahead
Rimi Sen’s lawyers, Pushpa Ganediwala & Co, are currently handling the case. The lawsuit has garnered attention, raising important questions about consumer rights and the accountability of car manufacturers in ensuring the safety of their vehicles.
As this case unfolds, it highlights the importance of addressing customer grievances promptly and thoroughly, especially when it comes to issues that could potentially endanger lives. Rimi Sen’s legal battle is not just a fight for personal justice but also a call for greater responsibility within the automobile industry.
