Sachin-Jigar, the popular music composer duo known for their chart-topping hits, have taken on a new and grand musical project. After delivering back-to-back successes with songs like “Taras Ni Aaya Tujhko” from Munjya and “Aaj Ki Raat” from Stree 2, the duo has now composed 20 original songs for the mega musical drama Rajadhiraj: Love, Life, Leela. This ambitious production presents the life of Lord Krishna through a blend of music and theater, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of India.
A Dream Project for Sachin-Jigar
In an exclusive interview, Sachin-Jigar shared their excitement about working on this project, which has been a long-cherished dream for them. “We’ve been involved in Gujarati, Hindi, and English theatre for nearly two decades,” they explained. “Seeing grand musical dramas abroad always made us wonder why our stories couldn’t be told with the same grandeur on stage. Now, with Rajadhiraj: Love, Life, Leela, we’re finally seeing that dream come true.”
The duo revealed that they initially composed more than 20 tunes for the production, highlighting the scale and depth of the project. “There are so many songs in the drama that we stopped counting. We worked on this for one and a half years, but it never felt like a burden. We’re thrilled to be part of a movement that brings Indian theatre to a grand scale.”
Blending New and Old Tunes
Rajadhiraj: Love, Life, Leela is not just about new compositions. Sachin-Jigar have also woven in some well-loved traditional tunes to help audiences connect with the story of Krishna. “While all the songs are new, we’ve included some popular old tunes like ‘Ram Krishna Jai Jai’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, and ‘Yamuna Janma Kesar Honi’—a traditional Gujarati aarti song. Our goal is for the audience, especially the younger generation, to leave the theatre deeply immersed in the spirit of Krishna,” the duo said.
Upcoming Music Release
The excitement doesn’t end with the theatre. Sachin-Jigar also announced that all 20 songs from Rajadhiraj: Love, Life, Leela will soon be available on various music streaming platforms. Fans can look forward to experiencing the magic of Krishna through these carefully crafted tunes, whether they’re watching the musical live or listening at home.
With this project, Sachin-Jigar continue to push the boundaries of Indian music and theatre, creating experiences that resonate with both traditional and modern audiences.
