Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and her husband Zaheer Iqbal are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with devotion this year. This is their first Ganpati celebration together after their marriage in June 2023. The couple welcomed Lord Ganesha into their home on 7th September and performed aarti together, creating a buzz on social media.
In a video shared by Sonakshi on her Instagram, she and Zaheer can be seen performing the Ganpati aarti, both with scarves on their heads. In her caption, she wrote, “When a couple respects each other’s beliefs in true harmony… love blossoms in respect. Our first Ganpati after marriage.” The post quickly went viral, sparking different reactions from fans and followers.
While many appreciated the couple’s gesture of respecting each other’s religious traditions, some users raised questions. A few comments wondered if Sonakshi would also observe Muslim customs like Roza (fasting) during Ramadan, with one person humorously writing, “Now Bhabhi will have to keep Roza too.” Another comment asked, “If Zaheer is doing Aarti, will Sonakshi offer Namaz?”
However, Sonakshi’s supporters were quick to counter these comments, praising the couple for their mutual respect and love. One user commented, “The biggest religion is humanity. Hindus and Muslims are all one.” Another added, “It’s heartwarming to see love and respect between you two, despite what people say.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer, who had a quiet registered marriage on 23rd June, have kept their relationship mostly private. Though there were initial reports about Sonakshi’s family being unhappy with the union, they eventually came around, with her parents supporting the marriage and participating in the ceremonies.
As the Ganpati festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country, it seems the couple is determined to celebrate their religious differences with love and respect.
