In the interview, Sunita revealed that she secretly converted to Christianity when she was young. Growing up in Bandra, she attended a Christian school and was surrounded by Christian friends. Sunita said that as a child, she was curious about the Christian tradition of drinking wine, which she had heard about in connection with the blood of Jesus. Her curiosity led her to make the decision to adopt Christianity, although her family never found out about her conversion at the time. Sunita laughed as she explained her reason, saying, “I thought ‘wine means wine,’ and that’s why I decided to become Christian. I was always clever.”

Though she follows Christianity, Sunita Ahuja doesn’t limit herself to one faith. She shared that she regularly visits the church on Saturdays, but she also goes to temples, gurudwaras, and dargahs. Sunita also spoke about the cultural gap between her and Govinda when they first started dating. While Sunita grew up in the upscale Bandra area, Govinda was from Virar, a suburban locality. This difference in upbringing created some conflicts, especially regarding clothing. Sunita recalled that Govinda wasn’t comfortable with her wearing miniskirts and would often tell her that his mother wouldn’t approve. Out of respect, Sunita started wearing saris around his family.
