Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia has recently come under scrutiny as her name surfaced in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) interrogated the actress at their Guwahati office, not as an accused but for her role in promoting the controversial betting app.
The Mahadev betting app, along with other similar platforms like FairPlay, has been accused of operating illegal betting activities linked to sports events such as the Indian Premier League (IPL). Reports suggest that Tamannaah Bhatia had promoted viewing of IPL matches through these apps, which has brought her into the ED’s investigation.
Tamannaah Summoned for Questioning
The interrogation was part of the larger crackdown on illegal betting platforms. Tamannaah Bhatia arrived at the ED office around 1:30 pm, accompanied by her mother. It is important to note that the actress is not accused of any financial fraud but is being questioned for promoting the app’s services. The ED has been investigating celebrities who endorsed or were associated with such platforms.
Bollywood Under ED’s Radar
Tamannaah isn’t the only Bollywood star facing scrutiny in this case. Previously, actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor were also summoned by the ED for their promotional work related to the Mahadev betting app. As the investigation deepens, more celebrities from the entertainment industry are being questioned for their alleged involvement.
This crackdown comes in response to a series of betting and gaming scams that have defrauded many individuals by promising high returns on investments.
