Tripti Dimri, who shot to fame with her stellar performance in Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor, has had quite the journey in Bollywood. Despite being in the spotlight now and having a slew of upcoming projects like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Tripti’s road to success wasn’t always smooth. The actress recently opened up about facing harsh criticism and challenges in her early career.
Speaking on Katrina Kaif’s YouTube channel, Kay by Katrina, Tripti shared some personal insights into the negative comments she faced, especially from those around her. Despite the glamour of being a successful actress today, her early struggles were marked by skepticism and judgment from society.
Early Struggles and Harsh Criticism
Tripti Dimri hails from Uttarakhand but was born and raised in Delhi. When she decided to move to Mumbai to pursue her dreams, it was not an easy transition. Recalling her initial days in the industry, Tripti revealed the criticism her family had to endure. “There were people who would question my parents, asking why they were sending their daughter into such a profession. They said things like ‘She’ll be ruined, she’ll fall in with the wrong crowd, she won’t get married,’” Tripti shared.
The constant negativity and societal pressure made it hard for her in the beginning. The actress mentioned feeling confused at one point, especially during moments when work was scarce, and the uncertainty of making it big in Bollywood was looming over her.
However, despite the challenges, Tripti stayed determined. “I knew I couldn’t go back and tell my parents I had failed. I had to make it work,” she said.
A Proud Moment for Her Family
Tripti also revealed that it was the film Laila Majnu (2018) that made her father proud of her achievements. After watching the film, which starred Tripti alongside Avinash Tiwari, her father was overjoyed and called to congratulate her. The film, directed by Sajid Ali, may not have been a massive box-office hit at the time, but it re-released in 2023 and received a lot of love from audiences.
This particular moment stands out for Tripti, as her parents’ approval and happiness meant the world to her, especially given the initial doubts surrounding her career.
Upcoming Projects and Busy Schedule
Tripti Dimri is now one of Bollywood’s rising stars, with multiple big projects lined up. Her next release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is scheduled to hit theaters this Diwali. The film stars Kartik Aryan, and Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit are also a part of the cast. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film is highly anticipated, especially with its release clashing with Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again.
In addition to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Tripti will also be seen in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video opposite Rajkumar Rao, set to release on October 11. She is also part of Dhadak 2, slated for a November release, where she stars opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi.
Breaking into Bollywood with Poster Boys
Tripti’s Bollywood journey started with a small role in the 2018 comedy film Poster Boys, which starred Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Shreyas Talpade. While the film didn’t make waves at the box office, it was Tripti’s first step into the world of cinema. From those humble beginnings, she has now become one of the most promising faces in Bollywood.
As Tripti gears up for her upcoming releases, her journey serves as a reminder of the challenges many actors face, especially when dealing with societal expectations and criticism. Today, she is proof that determination, hard work, and belief in oneself can overcome even the toughest of obstacles.
