Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ has faced some troubles lately. The release of the movie was delayed because it didn’t get the certificate from the censor board on time. The actress also received threats from some people in the Sikh community, asking to remove certain scenes from the movie. These scenes include the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and other events. Kangana posted a video on social media, explaining why the movie is still waiting for approval.
Vivek Agnihotri Speaks Out Against Censorship
Vivek Agnihotri, the director of ‘The Kashmir Files,’ shared his thoughts about the censorship issues around ‘Emergency.’ On his social media account, X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “If someone is expressing something creatively, it shouldn’t be censored. That’s my opinion. But if there must be censorship, why not start with TV debates, news programs, political speeches, and religious sermons? These often spread fake news, hatred, and violence.”
He went on to say, “If you feel something damages your reputation or hurts your feelings, you should be brave enough to face it. And if it doesn’t present your side, create something that does. Only people afraid to face the truth censor things that reveal their flaws.”
Kangana Responds to Vivek’s Comments
Although Vivek did not mention any names, Kangana Ranaut shared his tweet on her Instagram story, which caught everyone’s attention. In ‘Emergency,’ Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi, and the film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Shreyas Talpade, Satish Kaushik, and Milind Soman.
The debate over censorship continues, but the makers of ‘Emergency’ are hopeful for a fair resolution soon.
