Bollywood fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming film Yudhra, where a fresh on-screen pair—Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan—are set to enthrall the audience. Their sizzling chemistry has already created a buzz, with intimate scenes from the movie’s trailer and the song Saathiya gaining massive attention online. Despite the on-screen passion, Malavika recently revealed that filming these romantic scenes was far from glamorous and enjoyable.
Not As Easy As It Seems: No Intimacy Coordinator on Set
Speaking to News18, Malavika Mohanan admitted that shooting intimate scenes in Yudhra was a challenging experience, especially without the presence of an intimacy coordinator. In modern-day film sets, intimacy coordinators ensure that actors feel comfortable and boundaries are respected while filming romantic or intimate scenes. However, the Yudhra set lacked this essential role, making the process more difficult for the actors. Malavika shared that cracking the chemistry and filming the intimate scenes was not as effortless as it might appear on-screen.
She emphasized the importance of knowing limits while shooting intimate scenes, stating, “It is crucial to have an intimacy coordinator on set to maintain comfort and ensure things happen smoothly. Without that, filming such scenes can be awkward and tricky.”
Cold and Uncomfortable: Filming Under Tough Weather Conditions
The romantic song Saathiya from Yudhra has been a huge hit among fans, but behind the scenes, the experience was far from romantic for Malavika. She shared that shooting the song in the cold was a major challenge, particularly for the intimate scenes where she had to kiss co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi while soaked in water. The chilly atmosphere made it difficult to concentrate on the scene, as the freezing water intensified the discomfort.
Recalling the shoot, Malavika said, “It was extremely cold, and we were drenched in water. The waves were making it even colder. All we had in mind was to finish the scene, but we had to stay focused, especially while filming the kissing scene. It wasn’t easy at all.”
Balancing Angles and Emotion: The Technical Side of Intimate Scenes
Apart from the cold, the technical aspects of filming intimate scenes added another layer of complexity. Malavika revealed that they had to be aware of multiple camera angles while maintaining the emotional intensity of the scene. The close proximity required for the romantic shots, combined with the need to hit the right angles, made the process highly technical.
The actress humorously added that if fans were to watch the behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage of the kissing scene, they would realize just how challenging and, at times, funny the process was. While the final result may look smooth and effortless, the reality behind the camera was far from that.
Malavika’s Journey in Bollywood: From ‘Beyond the Clouds’ to ‘Yudhra’
Yudhra marks Malavika Mohanan’s second Bollywood film, following her debut in Beyond the Clouds in 2017. Despite her success in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, Malavika continues to make her mark in Bollywood with her versatile acting skills. In Yudhra, she stars opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi, who has also risen to fame with roles in films like Gully Boy and Gehraiyaan.
The film, directed by Ravi Udyawar, is set to release on September 20, 2024. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment, Yudhra features an ensemble cast, including actors like Raghav Juyal, Ram Kapoor, Raj Arjun, and Gajraj Rao. The film’s music, composed by the popular duo Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy along with Prem-Hardeep, is already making waves.
A Unique On-Screen Pair with Off-Screen Challenges
While the chemistry between Malavika Mohanan and Siddhant Chaturvedi has captivated audiences, Malavika’s candid revelations highlight the difficulties actors face while filming such scenes. From the absence of an intimacy coordinator to battling cold weather, the journey of creating an intimate scene is often a far cry from the romanticized version that appears on-screen.
With Yudhra gearing up for its release, fans are excited to see how the fresh pairing of Siddhant and Malavika will perform in a high-octane action-packed film. Their on-screen romance, combined with intense action sequences, promises to deliver an entertaining cinematic experience.
