Sanaya Irani, a popular actress known for her roles in TV shows like Mile Jab Hum Tum and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, recently shared her troubling experience with the casting couch in the entertainment industry. In a candid interview, Sanaya revealed how she was approached by a well-known Bollywood director and also faced similar issues in the South Indian film industry.
The Shocking Encounter
Sanaya recounted an incident where she was misled into believing she was auditioning for a music video, only to later find out it was for a film. She explained, “There was a lot of misunderstanding. I was told that I was auditioning for a music video, but it turned out to be a film. When I realized this, I told the manager, ‘I won’t do it.’ He insisted, saying, ‘Please, sir will get angry, just talk to him once.’ Then, the director asked me, ‘Are you okay with wearing a bikini?’ His tone was rude, so I hung up.”
The Unprofessional Behavior
Sanaya shared that after hanging up, she received a call from the director’s manager, urging her to call the director back. When she did, the director told her he was in a meeting and asked her to call again after half an hour. Sanaya explained, “I called him after 45 minutes, thinking I should give him some extra time. When I called, he asked, ‘What time is it?’ I told him the time, and he snapped back, ‘What time did I tell you to call me?’ He was not only unprofessional but also very rude.”
The Reality of the Industry
Sanaya expressed her disappointment with the industry, noting that many times, people in power meet with actresses just to test them. She said, “Many times, I feel people meet girls in the industry just to see if they are the type who would sleep with someone for work.”
Sanaya Irani’s Last Project
On the work front, Sanaya Irani was last seen in Short Butterflies Season 4. Despite the challenges she has faced in the industry, Sanaya continues to be a respected and admired figure in the world of television. Her courage in speaking out about such a sensitive issue highlights the ongoing struggles that many actresses face in the entertainment industry.
