Krushna Abhishek, known for his wit and charm, is currently entertaining audiences in The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2. Recently, the actor-comedian shared his thoughts on how comedy has evolved over time and addressed the frequent jokes made about him by Kapil Sharma. In a candid interview, Krushna explained why he doesn’t take offense and how comedy should always be taken lightly.
Jokes Are for Entertainment, Not Hurting Sentiments
In a conversation with the Times of India, Krushna explained that the main goal of comedy is to entertain the audience and not to hurt anyone’s feelings. He shared that while Kapil often jokes about him on the show, Krushna never feels bad because he understands that it’s all in the spirit of fun and for the entertainment of viewers.
Krushna said, “Kapil makes fun of me sometimes, like when he says, ‘Mama doesn’t talk to him, why should we?’ But I take it lightly because I know it’s just for fun.”
Changes in Comedy and Restrictions
Krushna highlighted how the comedy scene has changed with time, with more restrictions being placed on what can be said. He believes that this has affected the way comedians perform, as they now have to be more careful about people’s sentiments. Despite the changes, Krushna emphasized that audiences need to understand that comedians are simply trying to bring laughter to people’s lives.
He remarked, “People don’t realize how much we make fun of ourselves too! There are restrictions now, but we’re only trying to make people laugh.”
Even Kapil Isn’t Spared from Jokes
Krushna also shared that he doesn’t shy away from making fun of Kapil, and the latter takes it just as lightly. “I also joke about Kapil. Sometimes I’ll ask, ‘Has anyone seen Firangi?’ But does Kapil feel bad? No! Because he understands that it’s all in good fun,” Krushna said. He stressed that there’s a fine line between making fun of someone and having fun with someone, and the latter is what they aim for.
