Young cricketer Arjun Tendulkar is making waves in the Ranji Trophy, showing solid performances for Goa that could catch the eye of Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Having joined Mumbai Indians in 2021, Arjun was bought for ₹30 lakh during the 2022 IPL auction, but now he could see a massive hike in his salary if retained.
In Goa’s first match this season, Arjun had to sit on the bench. However, when he finally got his opportunity against Sikkim, he grabbed it with both hands. The left-arm pacer took six wickets across both innings, helping Goa secure a dominant innings and 53-run victory. He dismissed both Sikkim openers early and picked up two more crucial wickets to wrap up the win.
Continuing his fine form, Arjun contributed with both bat and ball in the next match against Nagaland. Once again, he dismissed the opposition’s opener quickly and added two more wickets to his tally, helping Goa win by 83 runs.
His batting performance stood out too. Arjun played an aggressive knock of 42 runs from just 39 balls, boosting Goa’s total to 306. His efforts in both games have significantly increased the chances of Mumbai Indians retaining him for the upcoming IPL season.
Although Arjun made his IPL debut in 2023, competition within the Mumbai Indians squad is intense. He will need to fight for a spot alongside emerging stars like Akash Madhwal, who has taken five wickets this season, and Nehal Wadhera, who has scored 106 runs across six matches.
If retained, Arjun’s salary could jump from ₹30 lakh to ₹4 crore—a major boost for the 25-year-old cricketer. With his growing confidence and consistent performances, Arjun is proving himself to be more than just the son of the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.
As IPL 2025 retention deadlines approach, all eyes will be on Mumbai Indians to see whether they secure Arjun’s services for the upcoming season.
