Ben Curran, the brother of England stars Sam and Tom Curran, is on the verge of making his international debut – but not for England.
Ben Curran, the third brother of England cricketers Sam and Tom Curran, is preparing for a big moment in his cricketing career. Unlike his brothers, Ben is set to make his international debut for Zimbabwe, the country where his father, Kevin Curran, once played. This would make Ben the fourth member of the Curran family to play international cricket, continuing the family’s strong cricketing tradition.
According to reports, Ben has met all the requirements to play for Zimbabwe and is now available for selection in the national team. Although Zimbabwe Cricket has not yet released an official statement, it seems likely that Ben will soon step onto the field representing his father’s country.
Curran Family’s Zimbabwean Connection
Ben Curran’s father, Kevin Curran, was a former Zimbabwean cricketer who represented the country in 11 ODIs. He later moved to England, where his sons Sam and Tom developed into world-class cricketers, both representing England on the international stage. Now, Ben is ready to carry on the family legacy, but he’s taking a different route by playing for Zimbabwe, his father’s homeland.
Ben Curran’s Strong Batting Skills
Ben, 28, is a left-handed top-order batsman known for his aggressive playing style. He has impressed with his performances in domestic cricket, both for Zimbabwe and in the English county circuit. Ben has also shone in the T20 Blast, showcasing his ability in the shorter format of the game.
So far, Ben has played 42 first-class matches, scoring 2,063 runs. In List A cricket, he has amassed 741 runs in 32 games, while in T20s, he has played 30 matches, scoring 575 runs. His consistent performances have put him in a strong position to make his international debut for Zimbabwe.
Cricket Runs Deep in the Curran Family
Cricket runs in Ben Curran’s blood. Besides his father Kevin, Ben’s grandfather, Kevin Patrick Curran, also played cricket, though he never made it to the international level. Ben’s uncle, Patrick James Curran, was also a cricketer. Now, Ben has the opportunity to add another chapter to the family’s rich cricketing history by representing Zimbabwe on the world stage.
