Suhas L. Yathiraj’s story is one of grit and inspiration. Born in Shimoga, Karnataka, Suhas was born with a leg impairment. However, he never let this challenge define him. He pursued engineering in computer science at the National Institute of Technology, balancing his academics with a passion for badminton. Encouraged by his family, Suhas never gave up on his love for the sport, despite the demands of his studies and later, his professional life.
After the passing of his father in 2005, Suhas decided to enter the civil services, aiming to make a difference in society. He cleared the UPSC exam and became an IAS officer in the 2007 batch. Even with a busy schedule as a district magistrate in Azamgarh, he continued to pursue badminton, eventually taking it up professionally.
