Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), following in the footsteps of his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, who is an MLA from Jamnagar, Gujarat. Rivaba took to social media to share a picture of the couple with their BJP membership details. Her post gained attention as the membership drive was part of a larger campaign by the BJP, launched in preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections.
BJP’s Nationwide Membership Drive
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the BJP’s membership campaign for 2024 on September 2, renewing his membership during a ceremony at the party headquarters. Senior leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, also participated in the drive by renewing their memberships.
Phased Campaign for Active Membership
BJP President J.P. Nadda explained that the membership drive will be conducted in three phases, with the first phase running until September 25. The second phase will take place from October 1 to 15, while the third phase, from October 16 to 31, will focus on recruiting active members who are eligible to participate in the party’s organizational elections.
