India’s Manish Narwal continues to shine at the Paris Paralympics, adding a silver medal to the country’s tally in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event. The 22-year-old from Ballabhgarh, Haryana, showcased his resilience by overcoming a shaky start to secure second place with a total of 234.9 points.
In a highly competitive final, Manish faced off against South Korea’s Jeongdu Jo and China’s Chao Yang. Despite beginning with a modest score of 8.8 in his first attempt, Manish, who previously won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, made a remarkable comeback. His steady performance in the latter rounds brought him close to the gold, but he ultimately fell short by just 2.5 points. Jeongdu Jo took the gold with an impressive score of 237.4, while Chao Yang finished with 214.3 points, earning the bronze.
This achievement marks Manish as the sixth Indian athlete in Paralympic history to win multiple medals, further solidifying his legacy in Indian sports.
With Manish’s silver, India’s medal count at the Paris Paralympics has reached four. Avani Lekhara, another standout performer, secured the country’s first gold in the women’s 10m air rifle event, while Mona Agarwal took home bronze in the same category. Preeti Pal also contributed to India’s success with a bronze in the 100m T35 event.
India’s Paralympic contingent has so far won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, making this campaign one of the most successful in the nation’s history.
