Ajit Singh recently made headlines by winning a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics in the men’s javelin throw F46 event. Competing with just one hand, he managed to achieve an incredible throw of 65.62 meters, securing a place for India on the podium. A Life-Altering Accident
The accident that changed Ajit’s life occurred in 2017. While trying to save his friend from an oncoming train, Ajit lost his left hand. The injury was severe, with his arm being amputated below the elbow. But instead of letting this tragedy define him, Ajit decided to fight back. Within just four months of the accident, he participated in the Para Athletic Senior Nationals held in Panchkula, Haryana in 2018, beginning his journey to become one of India’s top para-athletes.
Rise to International Success
Ajit’s international career began in 2019 when he competed in the 7th Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing, China. There, he won a gold medal, marking the beginning of his success on the world stage. Later that year, he won a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championship, which qualified him for the Tokyo Paralympics. Although he didn’t win a medal in Tokyo, Ajit continued to push himself, leading to his silver medal win in Paris, which has solidified his place as a top para-athlete.
From Etawah to Gwalior: A Journey of Determination
Born in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, in 1993, Ajit’s journey wasn’t easy. He pursued his education in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, where he is currently working towards a PhD in Physical Education and Sports from LNIPE, Gwalior. His academic pursuits, combined with his sports career, make him a role model for many young athletes in India.
