Special Olympics India is setting the stage for a powerful event to promote sports inclusivity for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. On November 9, 2024, the “Run for Inclusion” will take place in New Delhi, gathering thousands to stand in solidarity with special athletes. This unique race aims to highlight the transformative role sports play in creating an inclusive society.
The event is part of the build-up for the upcoming Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling competition, scheduled from November 18 to 23 at the Tyagaraja Sports Complex in New Delhi. This race will welcome around 10,000 participants, including special athletes, students, volunteers, and supporters from across the Delhi NCR region.
A Nationwide Movement for Inclusion
The “Run for Inclusion” will start from Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, and cover a 3-kilometer distance. Special Olympics India hopes to create an unforgettable experience that unites people in support of those with intellectual disabilities. With the goal “Each One, Reach One,” the event promotes awareness and encourages every participant to reach out and connect with special athletes, highlighting the values of compassion and inclusivity.
A major focus of the event is on building a future where every person, regardless of ability, is empowered to participate in sports. Children from over 100 schools in Delhi will join in, alongside approximately 1,000 special athletes, making this one of the largest inclusive sports events in the country.
