While the Delhi Premier League continues to grab attention, the UP T20 League is making headlines with its own thrilling performances. Among the standout players is Swastik Chikara of the Meerut Mavericks, who has become the talk of the town for his incredible six-hitting ability. On September 2, in a rain-shortened match in Lucknow, Chikara delivered a sensational performance, scoring 85 runs off just 27 balls, including a staggering 10 sixes.
A Rain-Shortened Thriller
Due to rain, the match between the Meerut Mavericks and Kashi Rudra was reduced to just 9 overs per side. Despite the shortened format, Chikara made the most of his opportunity. Opening for the Mavericks, Chikara took charge after the early dismissal of Akshay Dubey on the second ball of the innings. From there, it was a one-man show as Chikara unleashed a flurry of boundaries, propelling his team to a formidable total of 118 runs.
Chikara’s Explosive Innings
Chikara’s innings was nothing short of spectacular. With a strike rate of 314.81, he hammered 85 runs, including only 4 fours but an incredible 10 sixes. His aggressive approach left the Kashi Rudra bowlers with no answers, as he single-handedly carried the Mavericks’ innings. Unfortunately for Mavericks captain Rinku Singh, the day was not in his favor as he was dismissed for a golden duck, bowled out on the very first ball he faced.
Kashi Rudra Falls Short
Chasing a target of 119, Kashi Rudra’s batsmen struggled to get going. The pressure of chasing a big score in a limited number of overs was evident as the team managed to score only 66 runs in their 9 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. None of the Kashi batsmen could replicate Chikara’s heroics, and the team fell short by 52 runs.
Vishal Chaudhary Shines with the Ball
While Chikara stole the show with his bat, Vishal Chaudhary made his presence felt with the ball. Chaudhary delivered an exceptional bowling performance, conceding just 7 runs in his 2 overs while taking 4 wickets. His disciplined bowling ensured that Kashi Rudra had no chance of mounting a successful chase.
