The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) witnessed an incredible match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots, held at Warner Park, St. Kitts. This 7th match of the CPL turned out to be a feast for cricket fans as a total of 42 sixes were smashed, and an astounding 492 runs were scored in just 38 overs. Despite such a stunning display of power hitting, the world record for most sixes in a match remained unbroken.
Guyana’s Dominating Start
Guyana Amazon Warriors batted first and set a massive target of 266 runs in their 20 overs. They hammered the St. Kitts bowlers all around the park, hitting a total of 23 sixes. The star of the show was Guyana’s left-handed batsman, Shimron Hetmyer. Coming in at number four, Hetmyer smashed 91 runs off just 39 balls, hitting an incredible 11 sixes. What made his innings even more remarkable was the fact that he didn’t hit a single four. This feat of scoring 11 sixes without a single four is a rare occurrence in cricket history.
Alongside Hetmyer, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz also played a key role, scoring 69 runs with 6 sixes to his name. Their partnership helped Guyana reach their massive total, leaving the St. Kitts team with a daunting chase.

St. Kitts’ Fighting Spirit
In response, the St. Kitts batsmen gave it their best shot, scoring 226 runs in just 18 overs. Opener Andre Fletcher was the standout performer for St. Kitts, scoring a blistering 81 off 33 balls, which included 9 towering sixes. He was well-supported by Kyle Mayers and Sherfane Rutherford, both of whom hit 3 sixes each. Despite their efforts, St. Kitts fell short by 40 runs, handing Guyana a well-deserved victory.
Sixes Galore, But No World Record
The match will be remembered for the sheer number of sixes hit – 42 in total. While Guyana contributed 23 sixes, St. Kitts added 19 more to the tally. This was the first time in CPL history that over 40 sixes were hit in a single match. However, the world record for the most sixes in a T20 match remains intact. The record is still shared by a 2024 IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, where 42 sixes were hit.

CPL’s Previous Six-Hitting Record
Before this thrilling encounter, the highest number of sixes hit in a CPL match was 37, during a game between St. Kitts and Jamaica in 2019. The 42 sixes in this match tied the IPL record but couldn’t surpass it, leaving cricket fans eagerly waiting for a new milestone in the future.
Though the world record wasn’t broken, the match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St. Kitts will be remembered for its exhilarating action and six-hitting spectacle.
