Dubai: The date and venue for the much-anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 have been confirmed. Cricket fans can mark their calendars as the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London will host the final from June 11 to June 15, 2025. A reserve day has been set for June 16 in case of any weather disruptions. This will be the first time that Lord’s will serve as the venue for the WTC Final, following Southampton’s hosting in 2021 and The Oval in 2023.
The WTC Final has quickly become one of the most prestigious events in the cricketing world, and this upcoming edition is expected to be no different. ICC Chief Executive Officer Geoff Allardice expressed excitement about the announcement, stating that the WTC Final has solidified its place as a key fixture on the cricket calendar.
India, having reached the finals in both previous editions, will be eager to change their fortunes this time around. In 2021, they fell short against New Zealand, and in 2023, Australia claimed the title. Currently, India leads the WTC standings, followed by defending champions Australia. The two cricketing giants are set to clash later this year in a five-match Test series, which could play a crucial role in determining who secures a spot in the WTC Final.
New Zealand, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are also in contention, each vying for a place in the final showdown. However, Pakistan’s chances have taken a significant hit after their disappointing 0-2 loss to Bangladesh at home, leaving them in eighth place on the table. The West Indies, currently in ninth position, round out the standings.
With the WTC Final 2025 scheduled at the iconic Lord’s, cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly anticipating what promises to be another thrilling chapter in Test cricket’s most elite competition.
