TV actress Malvi Malhotra has finally received justice, four years after a brutal knife attack. The man responsible, Yogesh Mahipal Singh, has been convicted by a sessions court in Mumbai and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment. Yogesh, who called himself a producer, attacked Malvi in 2020 after she refused his marriage proposal.
The Incident That Shook the Nation
The horrific incident took place on the night of October 26, 2020, in the Versova area of Andheri, Mumbai. Yogesh, enraged after Malvi rejected his advances, stabbed her multiple times in the stomach and hands. After the attack, the perpetrator fled the scene while locals rushed the severely injured actress to a nearby hospital.
Malvi, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, survived the brutal attack, but the physical injuries were only part of her ordeal.
Mental Trauma Took a Bigger Toll
In a conversation with News18 after the court’s verdict, Malvi expressed that while her physical wounds have healed, the mental trauma has left a lasting impact. “I have gone through a lot of mental trauma. More than the physical wounds, it was the mental pain that affected me,” she shared.
Dealing with PTSD after the attack, Malvi described how she constantly felt scared and as if someone was always watching her. This period of fear and anxiety weighed heavily on her mental health, but her family stood by her through the darkest times.
Family Support and the Path to Recovery
Malvi credits her family, especially her father, for helping her regain her strength and confidence. Her father encouraged her to focus on recovery, both mentally and physically. He advised her not to live in fear and pushed her to engage in activities that would make her happy. The actress also took up self-defense training to feel more empowered.
The Online Connection That Turned Dangerous
In her statement to the police, Malvi revealed that she first connected with Yogesh on Facebook in 2019. Initially, they were in touch through online chats, but the situation turned sour when Yogesh proposed to her. After Malvi rejected his proposal, he began pressuring her for marriage. This led Malvi to end all contact with him.
The Attack
On the night of the attack, Yogesh approached Malvi in his car, demanding to speak with her. When she refused to engage, he took out a knife and stabbed her three times. Fortunately, residents acted quickly and got her the help she needed. The police later registered a case of attempted murder and stalking against Yogesh.
Justice Delivered
After a lengthy legal battle, the court has now found Yogesh guilty of his crimes. His conviction and sentencing have brought a sense of justice to Malvi, though the emotional scars remain. The court’s decision marks the end of a traumatic chapter in her life, but Malvi’s story is a reminder of the importance of resilience and family support in overcoming personal tragedy.
