Salman’s Hilarious Nicknames for Asif Sheikh
Asif Sheikh recalled that Salman Khan has a unique way of addressing him, with nicknames like “Mariyal” and “Sukhandi.” Wondering why Salman calls him that? Asif explains, “In Salman’s family, everyone is a bodybuilder, and then there’s me, very slim in comparison. Whenever Salman wants to give an example of someone skinny, he uses me as the reference. That’s how he calls me Mariyal or Sukhandi.”
It’s all in good fun, of course, as Asif shares that the nicknames are just part of Salman’s playful personality. It’s also a reflection of their strong bond, built over years of working together on various film projects.

There was another similar instance when they were shooting for Bandhan. Asif described how Salman, who had an Esteem at the time, drove recklessly on the footpath. “I told him, ‘Salman, we’re going to get caught!’ He just laughed and said, ‘So what? I’m Salman Khan, don’t worry!’”
When the Traffic Police Didn’t Recognize Salman Khan
In one of the funnier moments, Asif narrated an incident where Salman’s carefree driving style led them to be stopped by the traffic police. Much to Salman’s surprise, the officer didn’t recognize him. “Salman pulled down the window and said, ‘Hey brother,’ but the policeman still didn’t know it was him,” Asif shared, laughing. “I joked, ‘Maybe you should take off your shirt, then he’ll recognize you!’”
