Actor Karanvir Mehra has been a familiar face in the Indian television industry since 2005, known for his roles in popular shows like Pavitra Rishta, Behenein, and Pukaar. Recently, he became the first finalist of Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 14, a show that has catapulted him to new heights of fame. In a candid interview, Karanvir opened up about his journey on the show, addressed speculations about his participation in Bigg Boss 18, and cleared the air about his relationship with actress Shilpa Shinde.
A Memorable Journey in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’
Karanvir Mehra describes his experience on Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 as nothing short of exhilarating. “It was a great journey. I had so much fun, and the stunts were incredibly exciting. The location was amazing, though it was a bit hot. But we managed because after every stunt, we would end up in the water somewhere, which made it all the more interesting,” he shared.
The show allowed Karanvir to form lasting friendships and push his physical and mental limits. Reflecting on his time in the industry, Karanvir revealed that despite being a part of the entertainment world for nearly two decades, the last two months have brought him more recognition than ever before. “I’ve been involved in theatre since school and was more into sports than studies. My association with acting goes way back. I never chased the limelight; I just kept doing my work. This phase of fame was bound to happen, and I believe it’s all a part of the journey,” he said.
Bigg Boss 18: To Enter or Not?
When asked about rumors regarding his participation in Bigg Boss 18, Karanvir responded with his trademark humor. “My name comes up every year, for the last 10 years! What do you think? Should I do it? If yes, then I’ll ask for more money,” he joked. However, he confessed that the emotional and mental challenges of a show like Bigg Boss make him a bit apprehensive. “Khatron Ke Khiladi is tougher in some ways, but Bigg Boss is a different ball game. It’s more about emotions and mental strength, which scares me a little.”
Karanvir clarified that while he hasn’t signed anything yet, discussions happen every year. “The Bigg Boss team keeps the suspense going until the last minute. We’ll see what happens this year,” he added.
Offers Pouring In Post ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’
Since his stint on Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, Karanvir has noticed a surge in opportunities, although he remains selective about his projects. “I haven’t felt a drastic change in my life, but workwise, a lot of doors have opened. People know what I like to do, and the offers I get align with my interests,” he explained.
One of the new ventures Karanvir is excited about is a music video, a project he had never explored before. “I’ve never done a music video because I find them a bit childish. But this one is different. It’s a song by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, sung by Jyoti Nooran. There’s a story, no lip-syncing, and it’s been shot in Udaipur. I’m doing it because it’s meaningful and my producer friend convinced me,” Karanvir shared.
The Truth Behind Marriage Rumors with Shilpa Shinde
Karanvir and Shilpa Shinde’s on-screen chemistry during Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 sparked rumors about their off-screen relationship, with many speculating if the two might tie the knot. When asked about this, Karanvir laughed it off, saying, “Did it seem serious to you? We were just having fun. But who knows what the future holds? Shilpa is a dear friend, and I enjoy teasing her. But if she agrees, who knows, we might just get married!”
However, Karanvir was quick to clarify that the banter on the show was all in good fun. “People in the industry often say ‘we are just friends,’ and that’s exactly what it is with Shilpa and me,” he said, putting the rumors to rest.
Thoughts on Parenthood and Family
In a previous interview, Karanvir had expressed a desire to become a father, even if it meant not getting married again. When asked about this, he explained his change in perspective. “Yes, I was really interested in becoming a father. My sister has two children, and I’ve jokingly made a deal with her that I’ll take one or both of them. But she’s moved to Canada now, so that plan is on hold,” he said with a laugh.
Karanvir acknowledged that raising a child is no easy task and that a child needs a stable home, family, and proper education. “At that time, I thought I could do it on my own, but I’ve realized that both a man and a woman are necessary to give a child the love and support they need. I see the effort my sister puts into raising her kids, and I’m content giving my love to my nephews,” he shared.
The Dark Side of the Industry: Casting Couch
Having spent many years in the entertainment industry, Karanvir admitted that he had encountered situations related to the casting couch. “Yes, it used to happen, but I managed to avoid it. I never felt the need to compromise my integrity for fame. I knew my limits and how to steer clear of such situations,” he revealed.
Karanvir pointed out that the industry has changed over the years, especially with the advent of social media. “Nowadays, people are more cautious because everything is out in the open. Back in the day, it was different, but I always found it amusing when someone made an advance. I just stayed focused on my work and didn’t let it affect me,” he said.
Who Will Win ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’?
As the interview wrapped up, Karanvir was asked about the much-anticipated winner of Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. “You’ll find out on 29th September. Just wait and see, there will be whistles and applause for the winner,” he teased.
With rumors swirling that Karanvir himself might take home the trophy, he humbly responded, “Well, if that’s what people are saying, then I’ll just enjoy the moment. Let’s see what happens!”
