As the bus slowed down at a signal, I decided not to stay silent. I kicked him hard, and he fell off the bus. Embracing Her Inner Strength
Mukti’s journey in the entertainment industry has been marked by her ability to channel the strength she learned as a child into her career. “Even when I was in Mumbai, auditioning in places like Andheri and Goregaon, I never tolerated any disrespect. If someone stared at me inappropriately, I would confront them immediately,” she explains. This assertiveness has helped her navigate the challenges of the industry with confidence.
Her upbringing not only prepared her for the struggles she might face as a woman but also fueled her passion for her craft. “I have always enjoyed dancing and acting equally. Each project brought something unique to my career, and I am incredibly grateful for the recognition, especially for my small role in Gyaar Gyaar, which received a lot of praise.”
Mukti’s debut as a leading actress in A Wedding Story marks a new chapter in her career. “This is my first full-fledged film as a heroine. If this had happened a few years ago, my reaction might have been different. But now, after years of working in the industry, I have a deeper understanding of acting and art. I believe this was the right time for this opportunity,” she reflects.
Overcoming Setbacks and Finding Success

She openly shares how several of her films were made but never released, a common challenge in the industry. “I never allowed these setbacks to disappoint me. One of the most challenging periods in her career came in 2018 when she lost a role in a play after preparing for it for three months. “I was heartbroken. I was giving numerous auditions at that time, but nothing seemed to work out,” she recalls. It was her father who offered her a lifeline. “He asked me if I wanted to tell a story, to do a play. When I said yes, he handed me one of his poems and challenged me to turn it into a story for the children in our society during Navratri. I took up the challenge, and we eventually performed it at Prithvi Theatre and Kuku Club. That experience reignited my passion and made me feel successful in my own eyes.”
