Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, the popular face from the hit TV show Chhoti Sardarni, has been in the spotlight ever since her appearance on Bigg Boss Season 16. Now, she’s back on television as a contestant in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, which is nearing its grand finale. Apart from her reality TV appearances, Nimrit is also making her debut in the Punjabi film industry, teaming up with Guru Randhawa.
She recently shared her experiences with Navbharat Times.com, where she opened up about her time on Khatron Ke Khiladi, her relationships with her co-stars, and what lies ahead in her career. Let’s dive into what she had to say.
Nimrit’s Challenging Journey in Romania for ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’
Nimrit described her experience in Khatron Ke Khiladi as thrilling but equally dangerous. She said there were plenty of ups and downs throughout the show, much like life itself. However, Nimrit was excited to participate because it offered an experience like no other.
She revealed that she had been offered the show last year but turned it down. She wanted to avoid overexposure after being part of Bigg Boss. However, when the opportunity came around again this year, Nimrit didn’t want to miss out and eagerly accepted the offer.
Bigg Boss vs. Khatron Ke Khiladi: Mental Strength is Key
Nimrit highlighted the similarities between Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi, stating that both shows demand immense mental strength. She explained that both shows take a toll on your body and mind. In Bigg Boss, the lack of sleep and food affects you, while in Khatron Ke Khiladi, the stunts can be physically taxing.
Nimrit also mentioned that just like in Bigg Boss, some aspects of Khatron Ke Khiladi are under the control of the makers. Decisions like which contestant will perform which stunt, and whether they can watch other contestants perform, are often decided by the producers. Despite this, she emphasized that the overall experience remains real.
Her Equation with Shilpa Shinde and Other Co-Stars
When asked about her relationship with fellow Bigg Boss contestant Shilpa Shinde, Nimrit maintained that she has no bad feelings towards her. Although their interactions were strained during the show, Nimrit believes that each contestant comes with different goals. Some aim to win the trophy, while others seek to entertain or create drama.
She said that she has left those past disagreements behind and holds no grudges. Nimrit understands that reality shows tend to bring out different sides of people, depending on their goals.
Venturing into Punjabi Cinema: A New Chapter
Nimrit is also set to make her debut in Punjabi cinema, under the direction of Dheeraj Ratan, known for his work in some of the biggest hits in Punjabi films. She clarified that it’s not a case of lacking opportunities in the Hindi industry. Rather, she sees this as a chance for personal growth.
As an actor, Nimrit feels it’s essential to explore different stories and roles. The opportunity to work in Punjabi cinema was one she felt compelled to take, as it aligns with her ambition to constantly evolve as an artist.
On Facing Casting Couch and Her Fortunate Escape
In a candid moment, Nimrit revealed that she has been fortunate enough to never face the casting couch in her career. She credits her good luck and believes that while unfortunate incidents do happen, she has been spared.
Nimrit emphasized that everything she has achieved so far is due to her hard work and perseverance. While the industry can be tough, she counts herself as lucky for not encountering such negative experiences.
Choosing Roles: Logic and Meaning Above All
When asked about the kind of roles she would avoid, Nimrit explained that, as an actor, she doesn’t shy away from intimacy on screen if it serves the story and character. However, she draws the line when such scenes are added without any purpose or logic. For Nimrit, it’s essential that a script makes sense and is convincing.
She stated that she is open to any role that challenges her creatively, but she will only take on a part if it feels right for the story and aligns with her principles.
Why Nimrit Passed on LSD Movie
Nimrit’s decision to not pursue the movie LSD came after much thought. She explained that after participating in Bigg Boss for over four months, she needed time to adjust back to normal life. The overwhelming feeling of being constantly watched made her extremely self-conscious.
She decided to prioritize her mental health over taking up more work immediately. Nimrit felt that she wasn’t prepared to give her best performance in the movie and didn’t want to regret it later. She preferred to wait until she was fully ready before committing to a major film project.
Abdu Rozik’s Breakup and Nimrit’s Take
On the personal front, Nimrit was asked about her Bigg Boss friend Abdu Rozik, who recently went through a breakup. Nimrit, however, revealed that she hadn’t been in touch with him. She explained that their schedules have kept them apart, with Abdu living in Dubai and her being busy with her commitments in Romania and Chandigarh.
The two haven’t spoken directly, but Nimrit continues to follow him on social media and is aware of his recent developments.
Friendship with Shaleen: From Enemies to Friends
Nimrit also addressed her evolving friendship with Shaleen Bhanot, her former Bigg Boss co-contestant. The two had a rough relationship during their time on Bigg Boss, often clashing with each other. However, Nimrit shared that their bond changed once they both met on Khatron Ke Khiladi.
Without the constant presence of cameras, Nimrit and Shaleen had a chance to connect on a personal level. They realized that their judgments of each other during Bigg Boss were clouded by the competitive atmosphere. Now, their relationship has grown into a friendship where they protect and support each other.
Who Will Win ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 14’?
As Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 draws to a close, fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winner. When asked who might take home the trophy, Nimrit remained tight-lipped. She smiled and said that only the most deserving contestant will win, refusing to give any further hints.
There has been much speculation around the potential winner, with many betting on Karanvir Mehra. However, Nimrit emphasized that the title should go to the one who truly earns it.
Strong Female Friendships On and Off Camera
Finally, Nimrit spoke about the strong bond she shares with fellow contestants Krishna, Sumona, and Niyati. While their friendship may not have been highlighted on the show, Nimrit assured that they grew close during their time together.
She expressed disappointment that this aspect of her journey wasn’t shown on screen, but she is happy that these friendships have continued even after the cameras stopped rolling. Nimrit values the relationships she formed with these incredible women and believes they have made her Khatron Ke Khiladi experience even more memorable.
