Sony TV is making significant changes to its programming lineup as three popular shows, including Zakir Khan’s “Aapka Apna Zakir,” are set to go off the air due to low TRP ratings. The comedy show, which recently transitioned from OTT to television, has aired six episodes so far, with six more in the pipeline. Despite featuring several prominent celebrities such as Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, John Abraham, and others, the show has struggled to maintain strong viewership.
Zakir Khan’s Show to End in September
The decision to cancel “Aapka Apna Zakir” comes as a surprise, given the lineup of unaired episodes featuring popular personalities like Sonu Sood. The channel has announced that the show will wrap up after the remaining episodes air, with the final episode expected on September 22. A teaser for the episode featuring Sonu Sood, scheduled to air on September 7, has already been released.
“Pukar” and “Jubilee Talkies” Also Set to End
In addition to Zakir Khan’s show, Sony TV has also decided to end two other TV serials, “Pukar” and “Jubilee Talkies,” which began just a month ago. Both shows have been given a month’s notice, and their final episodes are slated to air on September 27. The decision to cut these programs is part of the channel’s broader strategy to revamp its offerings and attract a larger audience.
New Shows on the Horizon
With these three shows coming to an end, Sony TV is gearing up to launch three new programs to fill the gap. While the specifics of these new shows are still under wraps, the channel is reportedly working on revamping both its TV serials and reality show lineup to offer fresh content to its viewers.
Indian Idol 15: A Possible Replacement
One of the most anticipated shows set to return to Sony TV is the new season of “Indian Idol.” According to sources, the auditions for season 15 are already underway. If everything goes as planned, “Indian Idol” could replace “Aapka Apna Zakir” in the channel’s lineup. The new season is expected to be hosted by Aditya Narayan, with Shreya Ghoshal returning as a judge. However, the full panel of judges for this season is yet to be confirmed.
Kaun Banega Crorepati Returns
In August, Sony TV marked the return of the iconic quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC) hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The show’s comeback led to some reshuffling within the channel’s lineup, with “Shrimad Ramayana” being moved to Sony Sab TV to make way for KBC. The return of this beloved show has already attracted a significant audience, reinforcing Sony TV’s strategy of mixing classic hits with new content.
As Sony TV prepares to bid farewell to “Aapka Apna Zakir,” “Pukar,” and “Jubilee Talkies,” the channel’s focus is clearly on bringing in fresh and engaging content to keep viewers hooked.
