The TRP ratings for the 33rd week of 2024 have been released, and once again, Star Plus’s popular show Anupama remains at the top with a rating of 2.4. However, this success is partially due to Ritesh Deshmukh’s Bigg Boss Marathi Season 5 not competing directly with Anupama. Ritesh’s show, airing in the Marathi language category, has garnered a remarkable rating of 3.9, which is 1.5 points higher than Anupama. If Bigg Boss Marathi were in the same category as Anupama, it could have posed a significant challenge to the show’s dominance.
Ritesh Deshmukh’s Bigg Boss Marathi Surpasses Anupama
Ritesh Deshmukh has emerged as a formidable face in the reality TV space, with his Marathi version of Bigg Boss outperforming Anupama in TRP ratings. The show’s growing popularity suggests that Ritesh is becoming a major contender in the Bigg Boss franchise, second only to Salman Khan.
Top TV Shows of the Week
Following Anupama in the TRP rankings is the serial Jhanak, securing the second spot. Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein holds third place, while Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Udne Ki Asha are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
Amitabh Bachchan’s KBC Faces Decline
The latest season of Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) premiered last week, but the show opened with a modest TRP of 0.8. While this rating is decent compared to other Sony TV shows, it marks a significant drop from the days when KBC used to secure ratings above 2. The decline in viewership is partly attributed to audiences preferring to watch the show on Sony Liv’s app rather than on television. Interestingly, due to KBC, the show Shrimad Ramayan was moved to Sony Sab TV, where its TRP improved from 0.5 to 0.8.
Laughter Chef and Zakir Khan’s Show Struggle
Laughter Chef, hosted by Bharti Singh, has seen a significant drop in ratings this week. After being shifted to a weekday slot to make room for Rohit Shetty’s Khatron Ke Khiladi, the show’s TRP fell from 1.9 to 1.5. The show features celebrities like Ankita Lokhande, Vicky Jain, Jannat Zubair, Reem Sameer, Arjun Bijlani, Karan Kundra, Rahul Vaidya, Ali Goni, and is judged by Chef Harpal Singh.
Zakir Khan’s new show Aapka Apna Zakir also had a disappointing start, with a TRP of just 0.5. Despite high expectations, the show failed to attract viewers, especially since it was given the same time slot as the popular Kapil Sharma Show.
This week’s TRP report highlights the shifting dynamics of television viewership, with some long-standing shows facing tough competition from new entrants.
