Kannada actor Darshan Thugudeepa has hit a major roadblock as his bail plea was denied by a Bengaluru court on Monday. Along with Darshan, his friend Pavithra Gowda and two other co-accused also had their bail applications rejected in the ongoing investigation of the murder case involving 33-year-old fan Renukaswamy.
The shocking incident has gripped the Kannada film industry as Darshan, known for his superstardom, finds himself facing serious charges of kidnapping, torture, and murder. The actor has been sent to Bellary jail, while Pavithra Gowda remains in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
The Case: A Timeline of Events
According to police reports, the incident began with Renukaswamy allegedly sending inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, which provoked Darshan. Outraged by this, Darshan, along with a group of 17 others, allegedly kidnapped the victim from Chitradurga and confined him in a shed in Pattangere.
Police have revealed shocking details from the 3,991-page charge sheet filed last month. It states that Darshan inflicted brutal injuries on Renukaswamy, including kicking him in sensitive areas and attacking his head and chest. Later, on June 9, the victim’s lifeless body was discovered near a drain in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru.
Bail Rejected, Accused Sent to Different Jails
In the recent court hearing, only two of the six accused—Ravi Shankar and Deepak—were granted bail. However, the bail pleas of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, Nagaraj, and Laxman were rejected, indicating the seriousness of the charges.
Following a leaked photo of Darshan with other inmates inside Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, the court ordered that he and other co-accused be moved to different jails across Karnataka. Darshan was transferred to Bellary jail, while other key figures in the case were sent to facilities in Mysore, Dharwad, Shivamogga, and Belagavi.
Key Revelations from the Charge Sheet
The police investigation has uncovered disturbing evidence pointing toward the brutal nature of the crime. It was reported that Pavithra Gowda, along with two other associates, arrived at the location in a Scorpio vehicle on the day of the crime. Darshan later joined them and allegedly assaulted the victim with severe force.
Police believe that personal enmity and provocation were the primary motives behind the murder. Renukaswamy’s inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda triggered Darshan’s anger, ultimately leading to the tragic outcome.
Tight Security for the Accused
The Bengaluru court has ordered that all the accused be housed in separate jails to prevent any tampering with evidence or coordination between them. Pavithra Gowda is currently held at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, while the rest of the accused, including Nagaraj and Vinay, have been moved to other state prisons.
This case has shocked fans and the general public, with many questioning the involvement of such high-profile figures in violent crimes. The court proceedings are being closely watched, and further developments are expected as investigations continue.
