Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently behind bars for the last four months on murder charges, is reportedly battling more than just the law. According to reports, Darshan has been struggling with terrifying experiences in his jail cell, claiming to be haunted by the ghost of his deceased fan, Renukaswamy. These paranormal fears are causing him sleepless nights and severe mental distress. The actor, who is waiting for his bail, has shared his plight with jail authorities after being heard screaming in fear during the night.
The Ghostly Encounter
As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Darshan has repeatedly mentioned that he feels tormented by the spirit of Renukaswamy, the fan he is accused of murdering. Being alone in his cell, the fear has worsened, causing him to lose his peace of mind. Jail authorities confirmed hearing the actor scream in fear on multiple occasions, which he later attributed to his visions of Renukaswamy’s ghost.
Darshan’s Struggle for Bail
Darshan has been seeking bail since his arrest, but his attempts have been unsuccessful so far. His most recent bail hearing took place on September 30, where the actor requested more time, postponing the next hearing. Darshan’s legal team is hopeful, with another bail plea expected to be heard on October 5. However, his previous bail requests have been rejected multiple times.
The Arrest and Charges
Darshan, along with his co-accused and close friend Pavitra Gowda, was arrested on June 11 by the Bengaluru Police in connection to the murder of Renukaswamy. Renukaswamy’s body was found on June 9 in a drain in the Kamakshipalya area of Bengaluru. Investigations led police to Darshan and Pavitra after they were spotted on CCTV footage near the crime scene. Mobile records also confirmed their presence in the same area at the time of the incident.
Pavitra Gowda’s Role
The case reportedly stems from a conflict involving Darshan’s fan, Renukaswamy, and actress Pavitra Gowda. Renukaswamy, who was deeply devoted to Darshan, had allegedly asked Pavitra to stay away from the actor. Pavitra, who had been in a live-in relationship with the married actor for around 10 years, faced harassment from Renukaswamy through objectionable messages. This harassment eventually led Pavitra to approach Darshan for help, instigating the actor to take extreme measures against Renukaswamy.
The Brutal Crime
On the night of June 9, Darshan, along with several friends, reportedly kidnapped Renukaswamy, took him to a warehouse, and subjected him to severe torture before ultimately killing him. The Bengaluru Police arrested 19 people in connection with the crime, all of whom remain in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
