The Malayalam film industry is facing a major controversy after a female producer filed a serious complaint against some of its leading filmmakers, including Anto Joseph and Listin Stephen. The allegations stem from an incident at a Kerala Film Producers Association meeting, where the woman producer claims she was mistreated by the association’s officials.
Serious Allegations Against Prominent Producers
The female producer reported the incident to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling cases of exploitation within the Malayalam film industry. In her complaint, she revealed that she had ongoing disputes with the association over her films, which led to her being called to a meeting with its officials. However, the meeting took a negative turn when her concerns were dismissed and deferred to a future session.
Misbehavior at the Meeting
The situation escalated when the female producer expressed her frustration on social media, after which the Producers Association issued her a show-cause notice. During a follow-up meeting meant to address her issues, she alleges that the officials not only refused to hear her side but also subjected her to mental pressure and mistreatment. Following this meeting, she decided to file an official complaint with the authorities.
Police Investigation Underway
The complaint has now led to a police case being registered against nine producers involved in the association, including prominent figures like B. Rakesh, Anto Joseph, and Listin Stephen. With these well-known names now implicated, the case has garnered widespread attention in the Malayalam film industry.
This incident has brought renewed focus to the broader issue of how women—whether actors, directors, or producers—are treated within the Malayalam cinema world. The female producer’s case has raised serious concerns about the working conditions and respect accorded to women in the industry.
